best bowl of beef.

Any Hong Kong native will be familiar (and 100% in love) with
YOSHINOYA 吉野家

They have probably been sporting the same look and branding
since I could remember, I don't think its too horrendous or ugly
by ANNNNYYYYYYYY means
(compared to most of the crap we have in Canada)
but of course being Asian and a thirst for freshness
Yoshinoya has been re-branded by HongKong rebranding gurus,
AS Design Service Ltd.

Having currently already rebranded three locations,
Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun & Mong Kok
the space bases it self on the idea of "home/" taking the
child like representation of one and making it into
a full fledged branding project.

“In this design project, we had the opportunity to inject
a sense of young, interesting, exaggerated,
avant-garde, and experimental elements,” the architects explained.

“We want customers to understand at the first glance,
being simple and direct would make more sense."
Lau and Sum used the clients concept of “Home”
as the core design element to build a “Modern Home”,
to inject a sense energy, to a corporate brand with a long history.

clear drop of coffee.

For those of us that ingest this energy shocker on the regular,
we all grow to appreciate the finer coffees with time.
This vessel is not only good to look at, but engineered to
provide the perfect quality cup of joe.

The double walled glass not only allows for
visibility of the intricate process but also for heat retention.

spectacled bear.

The Spectacled / Andean bear is the ONLY
bear species in South America.

With its populations in the 3000s (if they're lucky)
these bears are on the verge of extinction.

Just like most other endangered animals,
humans are the ones to blame for the death
of these insanely cute bears. Not only
taking over and destroying their habitat, but also
killing them for their skin, meat and sometimes
simply because they're a "pest".

'Eggpicnic' created this toy paper bear
as a way of raising awareness for these silenced teddies.

forget Starbucks.

When the regular "leaf" and "heart"
on your latte just doesn't do it anymore...

Robocup.

When the days of studio were still looming over my head,
I don't think I could count the number of Nissin noodles I consumed.

There were days where you were impatient and basically as dried noodle sticks
but there were also days where you were so caught up in that failing CAD file
that you forgot the noodles were even there
and it ended up being a cup of mashed potato like blob in soup.

As a staple chapter in every Asian person's childhood / university life,
I'm sure we could appreciate this nifty noodle timer.

Celebrating 40 years of saving student's lives
Nissin got Vstone to create a robot timer as a prize giveaway.

3 minutes is all you need to make that Al Dente cup of noodles.
Now you won't miss it with this timer.

It spits out proverbs, trivias and fortunes for the 3 minutes your waiting,
how thoughtful : )

dazzle the pervert, monochromatically.

This place will probably give me one heck of a headache.
But existing in this chaos is definitely worth every bang.

This bar opened just a few weeks ago @ the Hotel Americano, New York.

As a temporary space the designer treated the space as something
practically packed into a suitcase as it has the proportions of the original
Bar Oppenheimer in Frankfurt.

Same furniture.
Same lights.
Same radiators.
Same details.

but instead of DROWNING in original Red Illumination
this time your engulfed in STRIPES.

Implementing the technique of
"dazzle camouflage",
one used in World War I to make it difficult for
soldiers to pinpoint  a target is now
helping ladies dodge drunken perverts.
