Red lace stairs is pretty much what this gem is.
The new Michin's Villa Mallorca needed a central staircase.
Any good designer can tell you that creativity is needed
make that mundane and painful trek upwards
into a magical transformation.
Studio Mishin treamed up with Atrup to build this beautifully illuminated,
perforated copper staircase.
The project needed close to 200m2 of composite panel,
treated copper bonded and structural timber with roughly 12,000 perforations made by a CNC water jet cutter.
“the lighting design accentuates the geometry of the
perforations
of the copper panels through backlighting,
with dramatic lighting from above to reveal the
texture and material properties of the copper and laminated wood.
An innovative approach to both maintenance and construction
for the lighting elements was also a
critical element of the success of the project."
